Privacy Policy and Professional Code of Ethics

Privacy Policy:

I am fully committed to protecting your privacy. My ironclad privacy policy when it comes to ghost writing, editing and copywriting projects is to protect your privacy and confidentiality in every project we work on together. Further, I respect your emal privacy, and promise your email address won’t be shared with anyone, unless expressly authorized by you for a project we’re working on. Further, any information received from you, for the purpose of preliminary evaluation of your project, to create a project scope or fee agreement/contract, etc. will not be shared with any third party. As the project progresses, any information, work or materials sent to me for the project will be held in complete confidentiality and not shared or distributed in any manner unless you have expressly requested it.

Professional Code of Ethics:

First and foremost: I will never offer you a guarantee that hiring me will result in your book being published, that it will achieve best-seller status, or that you will achieve business success. (And really, no ethical ghostwriter would – or even could.)

Next: My promise to you is that you will receive high-quality written work, personal service (unless otherwise requested, I will be the one doing the writing on your project), and a personal code of ethics that is above the current industry standard.

I do not accept ghostwriting projects that are to be written for academic or peer review.

Further, I promise:

1. To give you my honest opinion about the potential of your project as it relates to: a. your goals, b. its commercial potential, c. and whether I think we’re a good match or not – before you spend any money or sign on the dotted line. And if I don’t think we’re a good match, I’ll do my best to refer you to other ethical writers whose work and writing ability I know and trust.

2. To create a fair and ethical project scope that completely outlines the terms of our agreement, lists the milestones and deadlines, and spells out the fee schedule.

3. To give your book my full and complete attention, and devote the time, energy and creativity to it that it deserves and to do my best to meet all the time commitments and keep the project moving forward.

4. To stay in regular communication with you throughout our work together, and Inform you of any issues or problems which may delay our progress – (and of course, I expect the same courtesy from you).

5. Maintain your privacy and confidentiality at all times, as spelled out in our statement of confidentiality and fee agreement.

The Author’s Bill of Rights
Here you will find a summary of the Author’s Bill of Rights.

The Author’s Bill of Rights was created with the intent to reach 3 major goals:

To help authors feel more confident in choosing a ghostwriter; the Bill of Rights:

  • assures that the ghostwriting project scope is fair and accurate and works to meet the author’s needs (that’s you)
  • gives author a way to address any problems they may have
  • encourages author to take an active role in writing and overseeing their book’s content
  • to stress the importance of a strong relationship between author and their ghostwriter
  • to stress the key role authors play in their book project by laying out rights and responsibilities for all authors and ghostwriters

The 7 key areas of the Author’s Bill of Rights

  1. Information disclosure: You have the right to accurate and easily-understood information about your book project, ghostwriting contract and fee schedule.
  2. Choice of providers: You have the right to choose a ghostwriting specialist who provides you with the highest-quality ghostwriting services – and gives you the choice of which plan is right for your needs.
  3. Access to additional services: If you need additional services to keep your book project on track – such as coaching, one-on-one training, marketing consultation, etc. You have the right to receive these services whenever and wherever you need them throughout your book project or afterwards.  An additional feel for some services may apply.
  4. Participation in project scope and book treatment decisions: You have the right to know your options regarding your project scope, the treatment of your book and the scheduling and take part in decisions about your project.
  5. Respect and non-discrimination: You have a right to a considerate, respectful relationship between you and your ghostwriter that values your time, takes into consideration your other responsibilities and that keeps you on track with your commitment to finish your book in the time scheduled, and does not discriminate against you.
  6. Confidentiality of information: You have the right to privacy in regards to the information you provide to your ghostwriter. This includes information pertaining to your book, your identity, and other personal information provided to your ghostwriter for your book project. At the end of your book project, you have the right to have all the materials used by the ghostwriter returned to you, or the knowledge that all pertinent information has been deleted, destroyed or otherwise disposed of.  Further, upon payment in full of the ghostwriting fees, you have the full and complete copyright of your book, and any related systems, products or derivative information that is created from it.  You have the right to see all the details about the fees, confidentiality and copyright information in the ghostwriting contract.
  7. Complaints and appeals: You have the right to a fair, fast, and objective review of any complaint you have with your book writing project.  This includes the process, the draft, the time involved, or the communication methods or systems.
